Welcome To Netbook DJ,
Netbooks are becoming one of the latest gadgets to have, what with there small size factor - and the ability to do everyday common tasks on them. But can you rely on them to perform the tasks of which you will rely on.
Mobile Deejays need a solution that makes there life allot easier, and I believe that the netbook is the answer. It's small, well built, has audio output (standard 3.5 adapter) and there are many models now with up to 160GB hard disc drives, So you will be able to store thousands of tracks.
Suggested Models:
Popular models I believe worth considering are:
- Samsung NC10
- Msi Wind
- Acer Aspire One
All latest netbooks are very similar in size and weight, but I would personally go for a 10.2" screen size though. there are many variations in hard drive and ram sizes.. obviously the bigger the better!! (most run at a resolution of 800x600)
For battery performance I would suggest if you can afford the extra pennies then get the 6cell version and some users have reported using the laptop for 7 hours constantly without charge (using the Samsung NC10) That's a big WOW.
Our Dj Software Solution and why?:
We wanted to create our own personal Dj product that is designed for the small screen sizes of the netbook, As you will probably find out that default PC size DJ applications will be hard to easily use on notebook. We will be designing the resolution to run on notebooks with a 8.9 and 10.2 inch screen.
Windows Or Linux:
We are planning on creating the software product to run within a windows environment (Sorry linux users)
Your help and evolvement:
We would like the input and help of users and would like to build a community that is interested in deejaying and technology (obviously a supporter of the netbook would be helpful)
Paid Or Free?:
I am planning on designing 2 product versions, One free and obviously a paid for version of which will have the option of more then one playlist and sample banks although we will be charging no more then $20 dollars.
Community members?:
Will get the full version for free and can have suggestions and ideas implemented into the product.
